I dont know about Elona, I assume the spawn stays the same so you can have a bot there? I personally 55 the Troll cave at Droks and there appears to be about 5 variations on the spawn. I dont think you could actually run a Bot through there. I ve actually found more profitable places to 55, you just have to get someone to drop you off :-)

Sad thing really is that Elona is currently the best place to grind for skillpoints. Easily accessible, quickly rounded up, no interrupts/healing and relatively high experience.

Why are they always Mo/W? This makes no sense to me.

They use bonnetti's for energy management. There are other i-monk builds but that is by far the most common.

I hope A-net just starts investigating each of these PCs that look or act like botters. Ban them if they are. :[
Chances are that there's a live person in China sitting there waiting in case a GM contacts them to make it look like a human is doing it. =/

Just had to go check out Elona Reach ID myself. All those Mo/W walking against the wall and running to the Merchant, it just looks creepy.

Maybe you would be better off convincing other players no to buy from them, rather than telling Anet to fix stuff. If you get rid of demand for the bot-farmed gold, the problem will be solved.
I personally don't care because I don't use their services, and only do PvE. So, unless the monsters in fissure start spending real world Anet money to buy GW items, it doesn't affect me. Besides, if you nerf farming, then people will start saying that we should nerf running. There will always be something that some people find objectionable.

I wholly agree, it's like watching the monk stream leaving Droks into Talus Chute.
I'm not saying destroy the 55, maybe do some adjusting or something. But stop the bots. They're not only a breach of policy/agreement, but they're just bad juju.

I was unaware that bots were paid, or even had a need for money after they've been equipped with the proper skills and equipment to farm an area they're programmed for.
|
That's because of the fact most of the "bots " - this is a very persistent myth - are actually people working 12 -hour shifts for very low wages .
Banning those accounts will only take away those particular characters or accounts but will do absolutely nothing about the underlying issue : why they are there in the first place ( i.e. : selling of gold for real cash on the net exists because there's obviously a demand for it from paying customers : no demand = no suplly = end of pro-farming ) . When a-net bans those accounts ( and I'm sure they do this all the time and rightfully so ) up pop another 2 or 3 for each one banned ,because there is a demand for that gold .
For the same reason nerfing the 55-build or decreasing the droprate or whatever other measure won't work either . The only way to solve this is to take away the incentive for people to buy gold of the net .That requires a complete rethink of the gw-economy .
I don't see that happening any time soon so get used to those pro-farmers ....

I just recently discovered Elona Farming on my own (which I thought was my own bright idea) about 2 weeks ago while experimenting with my 55 necro (which I also thought was my own idea). Then I went to International District because I didn't wanna be bothered by people doing the mission in Home District... I frowned when I saw all those Mo/W ...
I should really read around the forums more first before thinking that I'm a genius when I try "new" stuff.

yea people who run bots devote their lives to finding new farm areas so most likely we'll never be the first people to find a new farm area

Mate I suggest that you pay a visit to Elona. If these were people they would not be feeling their way around the walls of Elona in order to get to the merchant, they'd just visit the merchant the same way we all do, instead of running in pre-programmed patterns.
If you sit and watch for a bit you will even get the lovely experience of watching 3 or 4 do the same thing at the same time: appear near one another, run to the wall, walk along the wall to the bit over looking the mission area, wait for about a minute and then run diagonally (along the SAME line) to the merchant. They are running a botting program, there is absolutely no doubt about that. If there are people overlooking the botting I've got no idea - but they are not JUST people earning their way in a sweatshop.

It has to be most cost effective for a gold farming business to run a dozen bots in an area because then they only need to hire one person to monitor them all.

And how do you suggest a BOT can farm ??? It's impossible, because the patterns of the foes is never the same .Let's give an example : farming hydras . How would you program the knockdown caused by meteor ?? How would you program the different patterns every time you exit into skyward reach. How would you program the fact enchanted sword use savage slah or the enchanted bows using savage shot ???
How would you program to counter disrupting chop at the talus chute trolls ??
I'll tell you how : it is not possible to program all those variables . The bot-program would be so big it would defeat its purpose .
Patterns at elona are different all the time as well , so that doesn't make it possible as well.
I can only assume something went awry in employment and/or account creation - given your description - in the end these monks can't stay INSIDE elona at the merchant ( assuming they are farmers ), they'd need to go outside to farm and then they would stop being bots - for the aforementioned reasons .
There is no purpose for "bots " staying at the merchant , they need to bring in gold in order to make money for those companies .And - as I explained above - they can't do so automated .
